Canada welcomes 55 Tanzanian Miners to Explore Mining Innovation

Toronto recently hosted a landmark initiative that brought together Tanzanian small-scale miners and Canadian industry leaders through the Canada-East Africa Business Exchange (CEABEX), led by Ramadhani Ponda and Shabani Mbandu, whose efforts made this mission possible.

Over the course of a week, the delegation engaged with equipment manufacturers, investors, and institutions, gaining practical insights to modernize and scale their operations. From sustainable mining practices to access to capital, the visit marked a turning point for Tanzania’s artisanal mining sector.

The closing ceremony was elevated by the presence of Tanzania’s Ambassador in Ottawa, who reassured participants of his support in strengthening business ties with Canada.

AfriCanada Stream was also present, with its director, William Muyuku, covering the event and engaging directly with participants during key moments and discussions.

More than a training trip, this initiative signals the beginning of a strong and lasting mining partnership between Canada and Tanzania.
